Ingredients
1/2 cup hot water
1 Tbsp sugar
1 package dry yeast
1 cup milk
2 tsp salt
3 Tbsp sugar
1/8 cup shortening
5+ cups flour
Directions
In a average bowl, add hot water and sugar and stir to dissolve.
Sprinkle with dry yeast
Let sit 10 minutes
Heat milk with salt, sugar and shortening.
Mix Well
Add 1/2 cold water
Stir until lukewarm
Add yeast mixture, stir well
Add flour and add additional flour so dough isn’t sticky.
Knead until smooth and elastic about 8 minutes
Let rise in a warm place until double in bulk. Approx 2 hours.
Punch down
Form into loaves or buns and let rise in a war place
Bake at 425
